Some of it was what I expected having read some Irvine Welsh stuff (not the book this was based on though), but the weird psychiatrist scenes pushed it over into weird for the sake of weird. A reasonable watch overall though.

Requiem for a Dream is just a weird movie. I don't get why people go nuts for it, and I'm a huge fan of understated, weird movies.

The director's other movie, Pi , is much better.

Aye, but I'd not watch it with your mates. It's more of a 'home by oneself with a bottle of a nice aged liquor and a pack of smokes' kind of movie.
